La suite des «Batailles entrecroisées» a été entreprise en 1986 pour se terminer en 1988. Si le motif générateur de la série représetet des soldats de l’armée française des années 1860, la majorité de celle-ci est construite par référence aux trois tableaux de Paulo Ucello consacrés à la bataille de San Romano (1432). La plupart des œuvres de cet enchaînement sont organisées, comme leurs modèles, à la différence près que, contrairement à ceux de 1456, les panneaux d’Objectal sont sécables et entrecroisent des équipements militaires anciens à d’autres beaucoup plus modernes, voire même prospectifs. Cette suite comprenait dans sa somme initiale 5 très grands formats (400 x 600 cm - 260 x 400 cm – 200 x 400 cm), 181 formats 100F (162 x 130 cm) et de très nombreux dessins et travaux préparatoires. Plus l’édition d’une grande lithographie, aujourd’hui épuisée, commandée conjointement par l’État (Bibliothèque de Prêts) et «Bordas Edition». Ces travaux ont fait l’objet d’expositions aux Fracs Auvergne et Picardie ainsi qu’au musée de Montereau-Fault – Yonne (77).
1Initialement ces 18 toiles étaient pensées deux par deux. Elles sont aujourd’hui orphelines. Toutefois on peut parfois reconstituer un des duos originaux en les associant par le nombre et la disposition identiques des lances ou par le motif des fonds.

The series «Batailles entrecroisées» was undertaken in 1986 and ended in 1988. While the generating motif of the series depicts soldiers of the French Army in the 1860s, the majority of the artworks is constructed by reference to the three paintings of Paulo Ucello dedicated to the Battle of San Romano (1432). Most of the Objectal’s works are organized like their models, except that on the contrary of those of 1456, the Objectal’s panels are divisible and intertwin some ancient military equipment with others much more modern, or even prospective. This series, as a whole, consists of 5 large formats (400 x 600 cm - 260 x 400 cm - 200 x 400 cm), 181 formats 100F (162 x 130 cm), and many drawings and preparatory works. It must also be add the edition of a large lithography, today exhausted, jointly commissioned by the French State ( Bibliothèque des Prêts) and «Bordas Edition». This work has been the subject of exhibitions at the Fracs of Auvergne and of Picardie as well as in the Montereau-Fault museum in Yonne (77).
At the very begining these 18 paintings were thought two by two. They are now orphans. However one can sometimes reconstitute one of the original duets by associating them with the help of the number and the identical disposition of the lances or by the motives of the background.
